Georgian town house, Winchester,
Hampshire

The project comprised the repair, alteration and refurbishment of an important early Georgian property overlooking Cathedral Close in Winchester that had undergone crude modern alterations and was in need of substantial renovation and modernisation. Thorough site survey and investigations were carried out with other Design Team members from the outset to gain an understanding of the level of remedial works required.

This enabled a detailed cost estimate to be formulated which gave the Client a useful cost management tool early on in the building process. An understanding of the problems and a knowledge of sound conservation solutions meant that information could be clearly conveyed in tender documentation to achieve (as far as possible for a building of this nature) a firm price for the works. Intensive site monitoring and management of variations then followed.
